Carbon price breaking records…again

This time last year prices of carbons emissions were deemed record-breaking. On the 8th of February 2021 they were priced at 38.61 euros per tonne. A year on and new records have been broken. On the 8th of February 2022 the price of carbon had soared to 96.93 euros, with analysts predicting a further rise to above 100 euros fast approaching. The price of emitting carbon has yet again exceeded predictions made by analysts. These price hikes are in part fuelled by a volatile gas market, but also by the EU’s determination to push for green policies.

Investing in eco-friendly technology, like the HighLift heat pump, can help businesses avoid paying the hefty costs of carbon emissions. If the past year is anything to go by, we can be sure that uncertainties lie ahead when it comes to the price of carbon. It appears it’s no longer a matter of if the price of carbon will go up, it’s just a matter of when.
